A general approach to gout:
1. Reduce purine rich foods (meat, seafood, beer, wine)
2. Reduce sugar that stimulates uric acid production (soft-drinks)
3. Increase fruits (e.g. cherries) and vegetables (e.g. onions)
4. Lose weight
5. Drink coffee
6. Supplement with vitamin C and quercetin
7. Herbs - diuretics, antiinflammatory and xanthine oxidase inhibitors
